 The Nishikigoi Breeders place their tategoi in their mud ponds during late May to early June, the actual date depends on rough equalisation of the water temperatures between their indoor Winter spending ponds and that of the outdoor mud ponds.
The breeders have stocks of tosai (Koi born last Spring) and these are now around 4” to 6” long. They also have stocks of nissai (Koi born two Springs previous) these are now around 12” to 15” long. And they also have stocks of sansai (Koi born three Springs previous) these are now around 18” to 22” long plus other stocks from four years old and over.........
