Support Plans Our support plans are designed to offer the purchaser an extra level of comfort if they so require, in effect a layered set of insurance products to protect your investment. These are based on an easy to understand system of 10% or 20% of the total cost of the koi, including taxes, and can be purchased at the initial purchase date or up to the 30th September in the year of purchase. All koi purchased from www.koibreedersdirectdirect.com are sold as described in our database with the stock currently in the mud ponds in Japan. All stock are documented by database number 600xxx with digital photographs of each koi with both Koi Breeders Direct and the relevant breeder. While there is no protection offered in relation to the development of a koi’s body shape and pattern while in the mud ponds, we can however offer other limited protection as detailed below:
Support Plan A:
1. A surcharge of 10% of the inc vat figure is charged for this plan up to the 30th Sep of each trading year, the policy can be purchased at the point of sale or within five months of the transaction up to the date above which is prior to the annual harvest season. (Plan A covers the health of the koi for the first harvest after initial purchase only, support plans can be purchased annually for your koi if it is left to grow in Japan for up to two more seasons following initial purchase).
2. Every effort is made by the breeder to determine the sex of the koi, however this is an inexact science at the tosai stage of growth with occasional mistakes being made by the breeder and becomes more certain at nissai stage of growth and beyond. The first benefit of plan A is that an exchange koi will be offered (female) as a replacement following the harvest if the previously selected koi has been wrongly indicated as female and it is found to be male. (choice of three – same grade breeder to select).
3. Koi Damage from a predator while growing in the mud pond is rare but occasionally happens. (raccoons, birds etc). In addition, in most cases, any damage will repair naturally during the next twelve months. If however the damage is severe and not thought by the breeder and Tategoi Koi to repair within twelve months then the second benefit of plan A is that being an exchange koi will be offered (female) as a replacement following the harvest. (choice of three – same grade breeder to select).
4. No Liability for any transmittable diseases from any koi supplied will be covered by this policy Plan A.
Support Plan B:
1. A surcharge of 20% of the inc vat figure is charged for this plan up to the 30th Sep of each trading year, the policy can be purchased at the point of sale or within five months of the transaction up to the date above which is prior to the annual harvest season. The benefits of Plan B include all of the options of Plan A plus the conditions outlined below. (Plan B covers the health of the koi for the first harvest after initial purchase only, support plans can be purchased annually for your koi if is left to grow in Japan for up to two more seasons following initial purchase).
2. If the koi, when harvested from the mudponds has died or disappeared because of a predator, then a full refund can be offered or a replacement koi as outlined above in Plan A
3. If following the harvest and subsequent shipment, to a global airport which accepts animal livestock, and the koi is found to be dead on arrival or dies within 20 days then a claim can be made for a replacement koi (as Plan A) or full refund. On death of the koi, Koi Breeders Direct reserve the right to visit the customer and view the koi with one of its representatives or dealers, Koi Breeders Direct decision is final in relation to any claims which are subject to inspection of customers quarantine facilities.
4. No Liability for any transmittable diseases from any koi supplied will be covered by this policy Plan B.
